    A lot of us get a real buzz from leading. Some of us wait wait wait and work work work to a position where we are officially given a group of people to lead. But I firmly believe it doesn’t have to be this way. If you want to be a great leader, if you’re like me and get a bigger buzz when someone thanks you for helping them win than actually winning yourself – then don’t wait. Start now. If you are constantly waiting for someone to tell you who you can be, you’ll never be anyone. So be the best now. Right now. Start before you finish reading this blog! Before your eyes have left the screen, become that inspiring leader. I read this tonight and loved it. It’s called “A Lesson In Leadership”.

    A lot of personality tests are great in the workplace. Many communications courses have their place on that square of carpet we share with people we otherwise wouldn’t hang out with in our own time. But how many can you take home?

    At every dotting course I’ve been involved with there is a delicious moment when someone in the crowd will say ‘that is SO my daughter!’, ‘my god, that’s my teenager’, or on occassion ‘Oh dear…I’ve been treating my wife really badly”.

  • Rain is fine – if you’re a purple dot

    They reckon there are three kinds of weather in Auckland – about to rain, raining, and just rained. It was raining, and raining hard, and the only park was about 300 metres from the main entrance. I was faced with two choices. Wait for the Niagra falls to stop landing on my car and miss the meeting, or sprint like there was no tomorrow, and hopefully dry off in the lobby.
